Monday...3 weeks left before summer!

Okay 6th graders...we are still working on the school for sale project. If you have your photos, keep working on the video. If you are still waiting for the camera, work on the weather scavenger hunt. Try this Scientific Method Scavenger Hunt.

WEATHER SCAVENGER HUNT.

1.a}warmest temp. recorded:
136deg.-Africa
coldest temp. recorded:
-129deg.-Antarctica

1.b}the range is:7deg.

2.The wind chill is -22 degrees farenhite.

3.My observations are that they today is going to be partly cloudy and warm. This is how the weather is almost all week.

4.It would bring extra cold wind. The temperature would probably drop. It might even snow!

5.Dew points indicate the amount of moisture in the air.

6.If i wanted to measure the air pressure i would use a barometer.

7.Snow fall affects sounds because it doesn't weigh very much because nothing is pushing on it.

i didnt get everything done so i will finish it next time.

Weather Scavenger hunt.
1. The highest tempature is 136 deg.F. The cooldest tempature is -129 deg. F. The range is 7 deg F
2. The wind chill would be a -22 deg F
3. My observations are that it is 57 deg. F, and it is cloudy.
4. It would bring extra

1. the htest temp was 136 and the coledest was a negativ 129 there differenc was 7
2. I tink that it was around 10 or 15
3. humidity 35%, dew point 42 dagreas farinhight, visabilaty 10mils
4.it will lower the air temp and snow will fall
5.indacat the amount of moster in the air
6. you would us a aTMOSPHER
7.because it dosant weight vary much and there is not much gravity pushing down on it
8.count the number of cherps the do in 14 seconds

SCIENTIFIC METHOD?
1.is a process used to systematically investigate observations, solve problems and test hypothesises.
2.Scientists use teh scientific method because it helps them ensure that their theories are true by testing a hypotheses with tests.
3.#1State the problem.
#2Make observations.
#3form a hypotheses.
#4Do the experiment.
#5Draw a conclusion.
4.It is important to clearly state what your problem is to avoid any confusionlater in teh scientific method.

A problem is a question to be considered, solved or answered. Everybody constantly encounters minor problems everyday.
EXAMPLE:What type of hot chocolate tastes better?
5.An observation is fact of noting and recording something with instruments.
#1Th 1st HC is more cocoay.
#2The 2nd HC is more thick.
TOOLS:spoon, HC, and some poeple to test it.
6.You form a hypotheses.
Teh words are I and Think.
I think that the first chocolate will taste the best.
7. they test them by testing the experiment.

Scietific Method Scavenger Hunt.
1 The scientific method is a method that scientists use to systematically work out observations, solve problems, and test hyptheses.
2 Scientists use it to ensure that the things they test are true by testing it with different tests.
3 #1 State the problem
#2 Make observations
#3 Form a hypotheses
#4 Do the experiment
#5 Draw a conclusion
4 You need to state the problem to aviod any confusion in the later steps of the scientific method.
4.5 A problem is a question you must find an answer to.
4.75 Which balloon will hold the most air. (One balloon is bigger than the other.)
5 Two observations are: The shape of the balloons, and how big they are. The tools I will need are my eyes, and a ruler.
6 You are making a hypotheses. I think that the bigger balloon will hold the most air.
7 Do the experiment.
(These are supposed to be checkmarked)Equipment costs a lot and they don't want to break them, and they don't want to make a experiment that favors their hypotheses. The key things to include in your procedure is how you will do the experiment, a list of all the materials you will need, and your hypotheses.
8 Data are the information gained from testing in an experiment.
The data that I could form is how the experiment could turn out.
9 The independent variable is which balloon will hold the most air.
Couldn't do more, I will finish tomorrow.

1.In aferca it is 136.The differnce in range is it is biger thin the other one.
2.it is around 10 or 15.
3.It is like 70 deg.f.
4.It would breng cold air and the timpitur will drop.
5.It would indicate the amout of misture in the air.
6.This is wanted to measur the air pressure i would use a barometer.
7.The snow fall affects sounds because it dosen't weight very much because it dose not why much.
8.It is that they are so littel that they have more force to hold them self up.
9.The earths light will suround the earth and that the sun just has one why to get the light around the earth is that the earth is going around the sun.

9cont. The real independent variable is the two different sized balloons. The dependent variable is the amount of air in both balloons. The controlled variables are both balloons will be filled with air from my breath, and that the balloons are made of the same material. The age of the scientist is not a variable.
10 The way you can organize the data is make graphs, make an organize list, and make a chart.
11 In the conclusion you must state whether or not your hypothesis was correct. You could also put things stating the problem, and what your outcome was.
12 False, we aren't degreed scientists, but we use the scientific method. Even in decided what to have for dinner, you can use the scientific method.
Did we have to do the extra?
