The explanation comes from "What Einstein Told His Barber" by Robert L. Wolke. As it turns out, there is a very good historical explanation for this phenomenon. It has a lot to do with swords and horses.
- Ball experiment: We are still reviewing the scientific method. Today we will develop an experiment using a tennis ball and other items. We will use the scientific method to guide us through the project.
- No Homework!
The project will include: a problem statement, a well written hypothesis (cause and effect), experimental plan (Procedure and materials list), neat and organized data table, at least one graph, and a conclusion statement.

Agenda for Thursday and Friday
For the next couple of days you will be watching "In the Shadow of the Moon". After watching the video, your assignment is to compose an essay where you address the following:
- How do you think the astronauts felt when they first set foot on the moon?
- Which country were we racing with to put someone on the moon?
- Why was it important, for our country, that we win that race?
- What was/is the value of going to the moon? Are we trying to accomplish the same thing with future Mars missions? Discuss.
Write these points down, so you can refer to them over the weekend. The essay needs to be at least one page in length and is due on Tuesday.
