6th science

Today's Agenda:

Bellringer: after copying the agenda in your planners, write about the difference between qualitative and quantitative obervations and give an example of each.

  • Cube activity: we will revisit the cube activity and our question: What is on the bottom? As a group we will examine the evidence to come up with an answer to our question.
  • Pole To Pole: Time permitting, we will finish the "Pole to Pole" video. Also, make sure that you have completed a "Did You Know" report

7/th/8th science

Today's Agenda:
  • Bellringer- review notes, terms, and equations.
  • Review Position and prepare for a test

6th science

Today's Agenda:
  • Watching "From Pole To Pole" from the Planet Earth DVD set.
  • "Did You Know?" report. As you watch the DVD, keep a list of interesting facts from the video. I want at least 10 to be handed in tomorrow.

7th/8th science

Today's Agenda: Please have a reading book for class today. When you finish your assignment, read!
  • Complete Road Races worksheet. Follow directions to complete the problem set. Remember to show all work including: formula, equation and variables. If you need help refer to your terms and equation sheet.
  • Complete the Metric Number Puzzle. A little metric review here. Refer to the bright yellow-green poster for help.

7th/8th science

Bellringer : If I'm in an elevator and it starts to fall to the bottom of the shaft, can I jump up at the last instant and cancel the impact?

  • Ball Experiment- today we will look at graphing our data and analyzing the statistics of our data.

6th science

  • Bellringer: a reading from "What Einstein Told His Barber" by Robert L. Wolke. We will examine why some countries have people drive on the left side of the road and other countries drive on the right.
  • What scientists do: we will complete our discussion from yesterday and finish reading the selection in the booklet.
  • Notebooking: we will start a notebooking project today. I have some sheets that you will be glueing in your notebooks and we will discuss them.
  • No Homework!

7th/8th science

  • Bellringer: Today you will listen to an explanation for why some countries drive on the left side of the road and others drive on the right side of the road. The explanation comes from "What Einstein Told His Barber" by Robert L. Wolke. As it turns out, there is a very good historical explanation for this phenomenon. It has a lot to do with swords and horses.
  • Ball experiment: We are still reviewing the scientific method. Today we will develop an experiment using a tennis ball and other items. We will use the scientific method to guide us through the project.
  • No Homework!

The project will include: a problem statement, a well written hypothesis (cause and effect), experimental plan (Procedure and materials list), neat and organized data table, at least one graph, and a conclusion statement.
