Today's Agenda:

  • Working on Presentations in the computer lab
  • links for presentations here

Today, we are working on your presentations in the lab. I want you to log in to this site and go through a couple of the sites on presentations. After you have some ideas on what a good presentation should look like, come back to today's post and leave me a comment. Include your name (first name and last initial) and two or three ideas that you got from the pages that you visited.

to get a good presentation to have steps in doing it. like the conclusion beggining and the middle. here are some of the things i learned today

10% - 20% introduction;
60% - 80% main body of talk;
10% - 20% conclusion or summary.

Trisha J, I learned that when your talking to an audiance that you need to speak clear, slow and loud. Before you present your presentation make sure that you have everything in an order that is understandable to you and your audience. Then when you are finished with you presentation ask them if they have any questions that they would like to ask you. If not thank them for their time and that you really enjoyed having them listen to you.

People want to be entertained not just informed.
u need to make sure that everyone can here you.
If people look like they don’t understand ask if u need to explain it again or if they have any questions.

To get a good presentation you need to make it readable, interesting, and all on one subject. The steps to a good presentation are first the table of contents, next the introduction, then structior planning, next yous timing, then preperation, next visual slides, then check your grammer and spelling, then your summary, finaly you ask if anyone has questions.

i lerned that you need to have your speech all planed out and organized and that there is no need to be nervouse when you are giving it. you need to practice your speech and keep on practicing till you are comfortable with going in front of an adience. you need good posture and you need to speake clearly and loud. To give a good presentation you need to give eye contact to your audience, maintain your audiences interest, keep good vocal variety, be free of distractions, practice your speech that you are going to present and relax but be serious about your presentation.

A good presentation should have a intordution body and a conclusion the introdution should gain and hold the the peoples interests. the body should be clear well thought out fully explaned. the conclution should summarize what you have said and have the main pionts. the speaker should be relaxed and calm. not boring you dont want the auience to go to sleep.

for a good presintation you must rieview your info sheet at home and memorize it. make eye contact with the addience! ask questions to the addience when you are done. The first is to K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stupid). then get a A+!

You can get everything in, in about 10 minutes if you, relax, but still work hard enought to get through. You need to make eye contact too and speak loud enough. You are more lucky to be in front of a clock whe you are giving your presentation because if you practiced you can get it in 8 minutes and you can actually calculate your 2 minutes.

Sophie C. When you are creating a presentation use these clues who,what,why,where, and how.Create a time limit to end on, then end on that time. Make sure to capture the audiences attention and stay on the topic of the presentation.Plan your timing, make your points clear to the audience,use visuals that could be used by all, and speak clearly.

i never new why they gave reports but this why because they like to see students squirming nervously (although this is part of the fun) but because the ability to give such a presentation is an important skill, and one that can only be developed by practice.

i learned a lot of new things like to give very good details and make sure that you can understand what you are talking abnout and make sure that your adiance can tell what you are talking about too. Also make sure that you can pronounce all the words that you are talking about and speak clearly and loud enough for the adiance to hear what you are teaching them. Make sure that your speech is boring so that the adiance wont fall asleep. If you are timed to and you get done before the have somthing else to do like a game so that the adiance is entertained and they have fun. and ask if they have questions about it because you never know that they might get confused in it.

include everything. state the toppic and why it was chosen. state what is the most important.
maintain your intrest. use special effects. use clear, consise form. be aware of evaluation criteria.
the intrest should gain and hold intrest. the body points should be clear well planned and fully supported.special effects should enhance the main points. the conclusion should summarize the main points. the delevery should demonstrate full eye contact, vocal vareity, and be free of distractions.
use notecards. dress approperitly. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.relaz think of you your audience and the sppech itself.

to give a good presentation you have to leave at least five minutes at the end of the presentation for questions

Anonymous said...

Amber S., when giving a presentation, you must have visuals that everyone can see. You need to make your points clear and as unconfusing as possible. When making points and also throughout the presentation, you should make eye contact to let the audience know that you are talking to them. Also to make your next presentation better, you can ask an audience member to give you feedback.

while reading through some of the websites i learned that you should 1.always check your spelling (probably so you dont look like a retard)
2.In the begining sort of summarize what the report will be about

3.have a good begining, middle and end

I learned that you should always look at your audience and speak loud and clear. I also learned that you should always leave your audience with a good clear picture at the end of what you were talking about! They only have one chance to hear what you have to say and they can't re-read what you said when they get confused. I also learned that one way to communicate your points effectively is the strategy called K.I.S.S. It stands for Keep It Simple Stupid. Another way to show your points effectivley is the repeat key insights strategy. You should tell them what you are going to tell them, tell them, then summarize and say again what you told them before but just summarize it. You want to have a good speech and make them want to read your paper again because it was so informational or something like that. I also figured out that it is hard to get your whole speech down to 20 or 30 minutes. I guess when I do my speeches I never really think about how long it takes me until Mrs. Todd video tapes me and I get to see my speech again. Lets just say the first was horrible and they second was pretty good. An outline should be a title slide, a forecast slide, an outline slide and a background slide that includes the problem statement, the related work and the motivation. Some other slides are the results, summary, future work, and last but not least the backup slides. Also you need to make it at least 20 minutes so that you can completely cover teh topic. You should also be prepared for any questions. Once you are done you should thank them for listening to you and for their time and that you really enjoyed them listening to your speech.

you need to have eye contact speak loud and answer the who, what, where, and how questions. make sure that they understand what you are saying. at the end of your presentation ask if anyone has any questions and then thank them for listening.

practice makes perfect when it comes to presenting a presentation.. make sure you have eye contact most of the time. if you start to run out of time talk a little bit faster, but make sure they can still understand you.. last but not least don't forget your SMILE :) :) lol
