Today we will be trying to figure out what is on the bottom of cubes. You will be in groups of 3-4 and will need to use your observation and inferencing skills to guess what's on the bottom of the cubes. You will also need to gather evidence that supports your statement in order to convince me what's on the bottom.

6th Science
- Explore "swingers"
- Vocabulary- variable, experiment, pendulum
Today we are beginning a new unit called "Variables". In this unit we will be learning more about the nature of science and how to do science. We will begin by studying "swingers". A swinger is a simple pendulum.
7th/8th Science
- Observation vs. Inference
- Shoe Activity
Today we will continue to learn about the Nature of Science through Earth Science. Observations and inferences are an important part of "doing science". Remember from our discussion last week that observations are made by using our senses, or extensions of our senses, (microscopes, telescopes, cameras, etc...) and inferences are the logical conclusions that we can make based upon those observations.
Bellringer: Look at the object on my table and make a list of observations and inferences.
